Firearms and Self-Defense: Expert Insights from Trigger Talk Tuesday - Aug 19th, 2025
On the August 19 episode of Trigger Talk Tuesday, sponsored by Green Monstah Firearms and airing on WEPM & WCST, Richie joined by phone from Fort Worth, Texas, where he was attending a major annual firearms buying event. She explained that this trip allowed Green Monstah to secure new product lines, take advantage of show-only deals, and build relationships with vendors—all of which ultimately means more options and better prices for customers back home. In the studio, John filled in for the usual Shadow Hawk Defense crew, bringing a customer’s perspective to the conversation.
The team highlighted current Green Monstah promotions, with Ruger Month continuing to offer package deals on firearms, discounted range bags with purchases, and select ammunition specials. They also spotlighted their popular suppressor promotion, modeled after the “Big Beautiful Bill” event, where the shop pays either the full $200 federal tax stamp on many suppressors or half the cost on mid-tier models. Entry-level .22 cans were excluded due to their already low price point, but customers still had more than 100 suppressors in stock to choose from. Sales have been strong—averaging four to five suppressors a day—and new inventory from brands like Dead Air, Rugged, and SilencerCo is already on the way.
A dedicated segment on suppressor education helped clear up misconceptions. Contrary to Hollywood portrayals, suppressors do not make firearms “silent.” Instead, they typically reduce sound by 30–40 decibels, which still requires ear protection at the range. The benefits, however, are significant: hunters disturb less wildlife and can make quicker follow-up shots, while homeowners can better protect their hearing and reduce trauma for family and pets if forced to defend themselves indoors. The hosts framed suppressors as safety tools, not criminal gear, and encouraged listeners to learn more at the shop.
The episode also spotlighted training opportunities at Shadow Hawk Defense, particularly the upcoming Concealed Carry Level 1 & 2 combo class scheduled for August 30. John, speaking from personal experience as a student, praised Shadow Hawk’s approach as welcoming and professional. He described the classes as highly practical, avoiding “death by PowerPoint” in favor of hands-on skill building. The instructors, like Randy, place strong emphasis on the fundamentals—muzzle control, trigger discipline, and target awareness—while tailoring lessons so that both beginners and experienced shooters feel challenged but not overwhelmed. The discussion underscored Shadow Hawk’s reputation for creating a safe, encouraging environment where firearms skills and personal confidence can grow side by side.
